Product Introduction

Description

Calcium Sulfate is a common inorganic sulfate compound. It is a white or off-white solid at room temperature and is often used as a filler, desiccant or coagulant in the building materials, medicine, food additives, chemical and other industries.

Features

Strong thermal stability
Calcium Sulfate has good thermal stability, and its crystal structure is not easy to decompose at high temperature. When heated to about 100°C, the dihydrate (CaSO₄·2H₂O) gradually dehydrates to the semi-hydrate (CaSO₄·0.5H₂O), and continues to heat to about 194°C or above to form the anhydrous (CaSO₄), with a melting point of about 1450°C in a completely stable state. This thermal property makes it suitable for use in high-temperature processes such as dehydration, drying, and roasting to maintain a stable morphology.

Low solubility
Calcium Sulfate has a solubility of about 2.63g/L at room temperature, and has reverse solubility, and its solubility decreases with increasing temperature. This feature gives it good structural stability in wet processes or solution systems, and is not prone to rapid dissolution or crystallization, which is beneficial to controlling the reaction rate and deposition efficiency.

Food grade safety
Calcium Sulfate can be used as a food additive. It is widely used in bean product processing and flour processing as a stabilizer, protein coagulant and acidity regulator. The purity is not less than 98%, does not contain toxic impurities, and meets the requirements of food grade use. The particle size is stable, and more than 95% pass through the 150 mesh screen. It can be directly fed into the production process without secondary processing.

Easy to transport and store
Calcium Sulfate is a stable non-toxic powder. It is not flammable, explosive or dangerous goods. No special transportation permit is required under normal conditions. The product is double-packed with a 25kg polyethylene inner bag and an outer plastic woven bag. It only needs to be protected from moisture and heat during transportation and storage.

FAQ

Q: What is the chemical composition of Calcium Sulfate? Is it safe?

A: The main component is CaSO₄, which can exist in dihydrate, hemihydrate and anhydrous forms. It is chemically stable, non-toxic and odorless, and meets the safety standards of many fields such as food, medicine, and industry.

Q: What are the common forms? What are the differences?

A: It includes dihydrate (Gypsum, building gypsum), hemihydrate (Plaster of Paris, plaster of Paris) and anhydrous form (Anhydrite), each with different uses. Dihydrate is used in construction and agriculture, hemihydrate is used in molds and medicine, and some anhydrous forms are used as desiccants.

Q: What are the advantages in the construction industry?

A: It is used for gypsum boards, plastering, ceilings, etc., with good fire resistance, sound insulation and molding properties, high hardness after drying, and easy construction.

Q: What are the common applications in industry?

A: It can be used as cement retarder, paper filler, desiccant, mineral additive and ceramic reinforcing agent, etc., with diverse properties.

Q: Applications in the food and agricultural fields?

A: As an E516 food additive, it can be used for tofu coagulation, flour improvement, and vegetable crispness; in agriculture, it can be used to improve soil structure and provide calcium and sulfur nutrients.

Q: What are the medical uses?

A: Plaster of Paris is used for fracture molds and dental models, and dihydrate can be used for bone transplant materials, with good biocompatibility and absorbability.

Q: What are its uses in chemical treatment?

A: The anhydrous form is used as a desiccant for organic synthesis, and is also used in sulfuric acid production (blast furnace desulfurization byproduct) and flue gas desulfurization system byproduct recycling.

Q: What is the environmental performance?

A: The purified calcium sulfate is non-toxic, free of heavy metals, and can be recycled, meeting the requirements of sustainable development.

Q: Are multiple particle sizes or hydrate forms available?

A: The dihydrate, hemihydrate, and anhydrous forms can be switched according to customer needs, and different particle size specifications are available.

Q: How to store? What precautions should be taken?

A: It needs to be stored in a dry and ventilated environment to avoid moisture and mixing with oils or strong acids and alkalis.

Q: How is the thermal stability and moisture reaction of the product?

A: The dihydrate will not dissolve in water but will form a hard structure. The hemihydrate can harden quickly in water, and the anhydrous form can absorb moisture and transform into the dihydrate form.

Q: Dust and safety protection recommendations?

A: Fine powder may irritate the respiratory tract, so dust masks and ventilation measures should be used to avoid long-term inhalation.

Q: What industries are the main application areas?

A: Covering multiple fields such as construction materials, agriculture, food processing, medical models, desiccants and chemical treatment.
